Description

Tangy Parmesan Tilapia combines tender tilapia fillets with a creamy, zesty Parmesan topping, broiled to golden perfection. This quick and easy dish is perfect for a light, flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons reduced-fat mayonnaise

1 tablespoon butter, softened

1 tablespoon lime juice

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon dried basil

1/8 teaspoon pepper

Dash onion powder

4 tilapia fillets (5 ounces each)

1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler: Set the broiler to high and preheat it while preparing the tilapia.
  2. Make the topping: In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, butter, lime juice, garlic powder, dried basil, pepper, and onion powder until well blended.
  3. Prepare the baking pan: Line a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with foil and coat with cooking spray. Place the tilapia fillets in the pan and sprinkle with salt.
  4. Broil the fish: Broil the tilapia 3-4 inches from the heat source for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. Top the tilapia: Spread the prepared Parmesan mixture evenly over the top of each fillet.
  6. Finish broiling: Return the pan to the broiler for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot.

Notes

  • Substitute tilapia with other white fish like cod or haddock for a similar result.
  • Add fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro to the topping for extra flavor.
  • For a citrusy twist, use lemon zest in place of lime juice.
  • Add red pepper flakes or chopped jalapeños for a spicy kick.
