Description

Sticky Garlic Chicken Noodles is a flavorful and easy-to-make Asian-inspired main course featuring tender chicken coated in a sweet and savory garlic honey sauce, tossed with perfectly cooked noodles. This quick stir-fry recipe combines juicy chicken pieces with a rich sauce made of soy, honey, garlic, and ginger, enhanced with a hint of chili flakes for subtle heat. Garnished with fresh green onions and sesame seeds, it’s perfect for a weeknight dinner that satisfies both taste and hunger.

Ingredients

Chicken and Sauce

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Noodles and Garnish

  • 8 oz noodles (rice noodles or egg noodles)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red chili flakes (if using) to create the sticky garlic sauce that will coat the chicken and noodles.
  2. Coat the chicken: Toss the bite-sized chicken pieces thoroughly with the cornstarch until evenly coated, which helps to achieve a crispy texture when cooked.
  3. Cook the chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces and cook them until they turn golden brown and are cooked through, about 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. Add and simmer with sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Stir well to coat all the pieces and let the sauce simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens and becomes sticky.
  5. Cook the noodles: Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well to avoid excess water and set aside. Optionally, toss the noodles with a little oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Combine noodles and chicken: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the sticky garlic chicken. Toss everything together thoroughly to ensure the noodles are well coated in the sauce and mixed with the chicken.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the top before serving to add a fresh, crunchy texture and extra flavor.

Notes

  • Use tamari and gluten-free noodles for a gluten-free version.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas for extra nutrition and color.
  • Tofu, shrimp, or beef can be substituted for chicken for variety.
  • Toss noodles with a little oil immediately after draining to prevent them from sticking together.
  • For a thicker sauce, increase the cornstarch quantity slightly or allow the sauce to simmer for a longer time.
