Ingredients
For the Ground Beef:
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
For the Veggies:
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 1/2 zucchini, sliced
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
For the Base:
- 1 cup steamed white rice
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients. Wash and chop all vegetables as directed and mince the garlic cloves. Measure out all sauces and seasonings so they are ready to use.
- Cook Ground Beef. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and add minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it up into small pieces.
- Season Beef. Stir in soy sauce, chili flakes, and brown sugar with the beef. Let the mixture simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables. In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Stir-Fry Veggies. Add broccoli florets, zucchini slices, and red bell pepper strips to the pan. Stir-fry for 4 to 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp. Add soy sauce and toss everything well to combine.
- Assemble Bowls. Spoon hot steamed white rice into serving bowls. Arrange the cooked ground beef and garlic sautéed vegetables on top or side by side in the bowl.
- Finish and Serve. Drizzle any extra sauce from the beef pan over the bowls for extra flavor and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Swap ground beef with turkey or tofu for a lighter or vegetarian version.
- Top with a fried egg for added protein and richness.
- For more heat, drizzle with sriracha or add extra chili flakes.
- Use brown rice or cauliflower rice to adjust to your dietary preferences.
