Ingredients

1 yellow onion, finely diced

1 Tbsp olive oil

½ lb ground beef

2 Tbsp all-purpose flour

1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce

2 cups beef broth

½ lb uncooked pasta shells

4 oz shredded cheddar cheese

2 Tbsp hot dog relish

2 green onions, sliced (optional garnish)


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  2. Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stirring for 1 minute to coat.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce and beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add pasta shells. Stir to combine. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. When pasta is tender and sauce thickened, remove from heat. Stir in cheddar until melted and creamy.
  6. Mix in hot dog relish. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
