Description
A one-pot pasta dish that captures the flavors of a cheeseburger—juicy beef, onions, melty cheddar, and tangy relish—all simmered together in a creamy tomato sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s easy, hearty, and comforting.
Ingredients
1 yellow onion, finely diced
1 Tbsp olive oil
½ lb ground beef
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
2 cups beef broth
½ lb uncooked pasta shells
4 oz shredded cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp hot dog relish
2 green onions, sliced (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stirring for 1 minute to coat.
- Stir in tomato sauce and beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pan.
- Add pasta shells. Stir to combine. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- When pasta is tender and sauce thickened, remove from heat. Stir in cheddar until melted and creamy.
- Mix in hot dog relish. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
Notes
- Swap cheddar for Monterey Jack, American, or a cheese blend.
- Use turkey, chicken, or plant-based crumbles instead of beef.
- Add vegetables like bell peppers, corn, or peas.
- Boost flavor with mustard or Worcestershire sauce.
- Change pasta shape—rotini or macaroni work well.
