Description

Keto Burger Steak with Mushroom Gravy is a rich, savory, and satisfying meal with juicy beef patties paired with a creamy, cheesy mushroom gravy. It’s a low-carb dish perfect for anyone on a keto or low-carb lifestyle.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (made into patties)

2 tablespoons butter

2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms

2 ounces cream cheese

½ cup heavy cream (or half and half)

¼ cup sour cream

2 cloves garlic, crushed

½ cup gruyere cheese, shredded (can use Swiss)

¼ teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon salt

⅛ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup water or beef broth

Instructions

  1. Shape the ground beef into burger patties (4 large patties). Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 5-7 minutes per side until done. Drain excess grease.
  2. In a separate skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden, about 5 minutes. Add crushed garlic and cook for 30 more seconds.
  3. Add cream cheese, heavy cream, onion powder, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the cream cheese melts.
  4. Stir in shredded gruyere cheese and mix until the sauce becomes creamy.
  5. Mix in sour cream and water (or beef broth) to the gravy, stirring until smooth and well-blended.
  6. Pour the creamy mushroom gravy over the cooked burger patties in the skillet. Let everything cook for 2-3 more minutes until well-coated and heated through.
  7. Serve and enjoy with low-carb sides like steamed broccoli or cauliflower mash.

Notes

  • Substitute gruyere cheese with Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella for a different flavor.
  • Spicy? Add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the gravy.
  • For a vegetarian option, use plant-based ground beef and portobello mushrooms as the base.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of water or broth if necessary.
