Description
Keto Burger Steak with Mushroom Gravy is a rich, savory, and satisfying meal with juicy beef patties paired with a creamy, cheesy mushroom gravy. It’s a low-carb dish perfect for anyone on a keto or low-carb lifestyle.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (made into patties)
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
2 ounces cream cheese
½ cup heavy cream (or half and half)
¼ cup sour cream
2 cloves garlic, crushed
½ cup gruyere cheese, shredded (can use Swiss)
¼ teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup water or beef broth
Instructions
- Shape the ground beef into burger patties (4 large patties). Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 5-7 minutes per side until done. Drain excess grease.
- In a separate skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden, about 5 minutes. Add crushed garlic and cook for 30 more seconds.
- Add cream cheese, heavy cream, onion powder, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the cream cheese melts.
- Stir in shredded gruyere cheese and mix until the sauce becomes creamy.
- Mix in sour cream and water (or beef broth) to the gravy, stirring until smooth and well-blended.
- Pour the creamy mushroom gravy over the cooked burger patties in the skillet. Let everything cook for 2-3 more minutes until well-coated and heated through.
- Serve and enjoy with low-carb sides like steamed broccoli or cauliflower mash.
Notes
- Substitute gruyere cheese with Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella for a different flavor.
- Spicy? Add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the gravy.
- For a vegetarian option, use plant-based ground beef and portobello mushrooms as the base.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of water or broth if necessary.
