Description
Crispy, golden croutons made from sourdough bread—perfect for salads, soups, or snacking straight from the bowl.
Ingredients
1 loaf sourdough bread (about 16 oz)
¼ cup extra‑virgin olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
½–1 tsp salt (to taste)
Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 °F (200 °C).
- Cut the sourdough bread into 1″ cubes using a serrated knife.
- Place cubes on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
- Spread cubes in a single layer, using a second baking sheet if necessary.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes until golden and crispy, tossing halfway if desired.
- Let croutons cool completely before serving or storing.
Notes
- Add dried herbs like oregano, thyme, or rosemary for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle Parmesan before baking for cheesy croutons.
- Include cayenne or chili powder for a spicy version.
- Swap olive oil for melted butter for richer taste.
