Description

Crispy, golden croutons made from sourdough bread—perfect for salads, soups, or snacking straight from the bowl.

Ingredients

1 loaf sourdough bread (about 16 oz)

¼ cup extra‑virgin olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

½1 tsp salt (to taste)

Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 °F (200 °C).
  2. Cut the sourdough bread into 1″ cubes using a serrated knife.
  3. Place cubes on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  4. Spread cubes in a single layer, using a second baking sheet if necessary.
  5. Bake for 10–15 minutes until golden and crispy, tossing halfway if desired.
  6. Let croutons cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Add dried herbs like oregano, thyme, or rosemary for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle Parmesan before baking for cheesy croutons.
  • Include cayenne or chili powder for a spicy version.
  • Swap olive oil for melted butter for richer taste.
