Description

A refreshing, natural alternative to store-bought sports drinks. Made with coconut water, blue spirulina, mint, lime, and optional pineapple juice, this homemade Gatorade helps replenish electrolytes and hydrate after a workout or on a hot day.

Ingredients

3 mint leaves

14 oz organic coconut water (adjust to taste)

⅛ teaspoon blue spirulina (organic)

1 lime, juiced (to taste)

1 pinch Redmond Real Salt

2 teaspoons honey (or agave)

Ice, to preference

½ cup pineapple juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Take the mint leaves and slap them gently between your hands to release the essential oils.
  2. Place the mint leaves in a shaker bottle. Add the coconut water, blue spirulina, lime juice, pinch of salt, honey, and pineapple juice (if using).
  3. Shake the mixture well until everything is thoroughly combined.
  4. Pour the drink over ice in a tall glass and enjoy your refreshing homemade Gatorade!

Notes

  • Tropical twist: Experiment with juices like orange, mango, or passion fruit for a fun, tropical flavor.
  • No mint: Leave out the mint for a more straightforward flavor profile.
  • Adjust sweetness: Add more or less honey/agave depending on your preference.
  • Caffeine boost: Add a splash of green tea or yerba mate for a gentle caffeine boost.
