A warm, comforting apple crisp with cinnamon-spiced apples beneath a buttery oat-pecan crumble—perfectly paired with caramel and vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
Apple Filling: 10 cups sliced apples, 1 Tbsp lemon juice, 2 Tbsp flour, ½ cup sugar, 1½ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp cloves, ¼ tsp all‑spice
Crumb Topping: 1 cup flour, ½ cup packed brown sugar, 2 Tbsp sugar, ½ cup oats, ½ cup chopped pecans, ½ tsp baking powder, 1 tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp nutmeg, ½ cup cold cubed butter
Garnish: 1 cup salted caramel sauce, flaky sea salt (optional), vanilla ice cream (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 °F and grease a 12″ skillet or 9×13″ dish.
- Toss apples with lemon juice. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and spices, then coat apples. Transfer to the dish.
- In another bowl, mix topping ingredients, then cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle crumble over apples.
- Bake 45–50 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Serve warm, drizzled with caramel, sprinkled with sea salt, and optionally topped with ice cream.
Notes
- Sub pears or half-and-half with apples
- Swap pecans for walnuts or almonds
- Gluten-free: use GF flour blend
