Ingredients
2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce
1 large white onion, diced
8 oz egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
3 oz cream cheese
1 lb ground beef
½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (or more to taste)
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp salt
1 tsp white sugar
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat (5–7 minutes), drain grease.
- Stir in garlic salt, salt, tomato sauce, and sugar. Simmer for 20 minutes. Cover and set aside.
- Boil noodles until al dente (5–6 minutes), drain and rinse with cold water.
- Preheat oven to 350 °F. Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Mix diced onion, sour cream, and cream cheese until smooth.
- Layer half the noodles, half the sour cream mix, and half the beef sauce. Repeat layers.
- Top with shredded Cheddar. Bake 25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef if desired.
- Add vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers for more nutrition.
- Use mozzarella or Monterey Jack for a cheesy variation.
