Description

Garlic Baked Brie is a show-stopping appetizer featuring creamy brie cheese baked in a sourdough bread bowl with garlic confit, cranberry sauce, honey, and fresh herbs. Perfect for holidays, dinner parties, or cozy gatherings, this warm and indulgent recipe is simple to make and guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients

1 boule of bread (sourdough recommended)

2 heads of garlic

Olive oil

Fresh rosemary, thyme, and/or sage

½ cup cranberry sauce

1 wheel of brie

Drizzle of honey

Instructions

  1. Peel garlic cloves and place in a small dish. Cover with olive oil and add herbs. Cook gently on stovetop over low heat until tender, or bake at 250°F for 1–2 hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  3. Slice the top quarter off the boule. Optionally, cut shallow slices around for pull-apart pieces.
  4. Remove the rind from the top of the brie. Trace brie onto bread, cut a hole, and scoop out inside bread (reserve for dipping).
  5. Spread cranberry sauce in the bread bowl. Top with half the garlic confit. Place brie inside bread.
  6. Brush bread with garlic oil. Scatter remaining garlic on brie, drizzle with honey, and sprinkle with herbs.
  7. Bake for 20–30 minutes until brie is melted and bread is golden.
  8. Serve immediately with bread pieces, crackers, or apple slices.

Notes

  • Swap cranberry sauce for fig jam, apricot preserves, or caramelized onions.
  • Add toasted nuts like walnuts or pecans for crunch.
  • Use flavored brie for extra richness (herbed, truffle).
  • Make it savory with olives, roasted peppers, or sun-dried tomatoes.
  • Try mini rolls for individual portions.
