Description

Creamy Savory Mashed Sweet Potatoes are a rich and comforting side dish featuring tender sweet potatoes mashed with butter, garlic, sour cream, and topped with fresh parsley. Perfectly smooth and packed with flavor, they’re an ideal companion to any hearty meal.


Ingredients

4 lb sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1″ cubes

2 tsp salt, divided

1 garlic clove, minced

3 Tbsp butter, cubed, plus extra for serving

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

¼ cup sour cream

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Place sweet potato cubes in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add 1 tsp salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes until tender.
  2. Drain potatoes thoroughly and return to the hot pot.
  3. Add remaining 1 tsp salt, minced garlic, cubed butter, and black pepper.
  4. Mash with a potato masher or mix on low with an electric mixer to your preferred consistency.
  5. Fold in sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl, top with extra butter and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve warm.

  • Dry potatoes in the pot after draining to avoid watery mash.
