Description
This homemade Starbucks Chai Tea Latte recipe brings the cozy, spiced flavor of your favorite café drink into the comfort of your own kitchen. With a blend of chai tea, honey, cinnamon, and frothed milk, it’s the perfect warm beverage to enjoy on a chilly day.
Ingredients
1 cup water
2 chai tea bags
1 tbsp honey
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
Instructions
- Boil the water: Bring the cup of water to a boil in a small pot over high heat.
- Add the tea and spices: Once the water is boiling, add the 2 chai tea bags, honey, and cinnamon. Cover the pot and turn down the heat to a simmer. Let the tea steep for 10 minutes to infuse all the flavors.
- Froth the milk: After about 7–8 minutes, froth the milk. You can use a milk frother, whisk, or simply heat the milk on the stove and vigorously whisk it to create foam.
- Combine and serve: Pour the chai tea mixture into a mug, then add the frothed milk on top. Sprinkle with a little more cinnamon (and nutmeg, if desired). Enjoy your homemade chai tea latte!
Notes
Spicy version: Add more cinnamon, a pinch of ground ginger, or cloves to intensify the spice.
Sweetener alternatives: Swap the honey for maple syrup, agave nectar, or a sweetener of your choice.
Iced version: For a refreshing iced chai latte, let the tea cool down, then pour it over ice and add the frothed milk.
Non-dairy version: Use almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk for a dairy-free option.
