The optional vanilla extract adds an extra layer of flavor, making this whipped cream a versatile and indulgent addition to your sweet treats.
Ingredients
Whipped Cream Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream, chilled
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder (or instant coffee granules)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Chill the Bowl and Beatters: Place a metal mixing bowl and the beaters of your electric mixer in the freezer for 15 minutes to ensure everything is cold. This helps the cream whip up better and faster.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the chilled heavy cream, powdered sugar, instant espresso powder, and vanilla extract, if using, into the cold mixing bowl.
- Whip the Cream: Using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the mixture for 3 to 5 minutes until stiff peaks form. The whipped cream should be thick enough to hold its shape when the beaters are lifted out.
- Adjust Sweetness and Flavor: Taste the whipped cream and add more powdered sugar or instant espresso powder if you want it sweeter or with more coffee flavor. Mix briefly to incorporate.
- Serve or Store: Use immediately to top cakes, cupcakes, pies, hot cocoa, ice cream, or other desserts. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Notes
- For best results, make sure all ingredients and tools are well chilled before whipping.
- The instant espresso powder can be substituted with instant coffee granules, but espresso powder will give a richer coffee flavor.
- Do not overwhip the cream to avoid turning it into butter.
- This whipped cream is best used fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- The optional vanilla extract complements the coffee flavor and adds depth but can be omitted if preferred.
