Ingredients
1 cup almonds
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp coconut sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
⅛ tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
- Measure out the almonds and pour them into a bowl. In a small saucepan, heat the maple syrup over low heat until it’s warm. Pour the warm maple syrup over the almonds and stir well to coat them evenly.
- In a separate small bowl, mix together the coconut sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Sprinkle this mixture over the maple-coated almonds and stir well to coat them evenly.
- Spread the almonds evenly on the parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Place them in the preheated oven and roast for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, remove the almonds from the oven. Stir them around to loosen them from the parchment paper and ensure they roast evenly. Let them sit for 10 minutes to come to room temperature and crisp up.
Notes
- Spicy kick: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder for a spicy twist to balance the sweetness.
- Sweetener alternatives: If you don’t have maple syrup, you can substitute with honey, agave syrup, or even coconut nectar.
- Add-ins: For extra flavor, you can toss in a handful of chopped walnuts or pecans before roasting, or sprinkle some vanilla extract with the maple syrup.
