Description

This Churro Stuffed French Toast brings together the crisp, cinnamon‑sugar coating of a churro and the tender, custardy richness of classic French toast, with a sweet cream cheese center for ultimate brunch satisfaction.

Ingredients

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 Tbsp powdered sugar

½ tsp vanilla extract (for filling)

8 slices thick-cut bread (brioche or Texas toast recommended)

2 large eggs

½ cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract (for egg mix)

½ tsp ground cinnamon (for egg mix)

2 Tbsp granulated sugar (for egg mix)

Pinch of salt

2 Tbsp butter (for frying)

½ cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread on 4 slices of bread and top with remaining slices to form 4 sandwiches.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
  3. Heat skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt butter. Dip each sandwich into egg mixture, coating both sides.
  4. Cook 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  5. Mix coating sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Press hot French toast into mixture to coat.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup, whipped cream, or chocolate sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Add fruit like sliced strawberries or bananas to the filling for variety.
  • Make it vegan with dairy-free cream cheese, plant milk, and vegan butter.
  • Spice up the egg mix with nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice.
  • Top with caramel or dulce de leche for extra indulgence.
  • Make ahead by assembling sandwiches and preparing egg mixture in advance.
