Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods combine salty and sweet flavors with a crunchy texture. Perfect for snacking or gifting, these pretzels are dipped in melted chocolate and decorated with your favorite toppings such as sprinkles, mini M&M’s, or chopped nuts.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces pretzel rods
  • 16 ounces chopped milk, semisweet, dark, or white chocolate (or candy melts)
  • Sprinkles, mini M&M’s, coconut, toffee bits, chopped nuts, or other desired toppings

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate: Fill clean, tall heat-safe jars with chopped chocolate or candy melts. Place them into a crock pot and carefully fill the crock pot with hot water about halfway up the sides of the jars, making sure no water gets inside the jars.
  2. Heat the chocolate: Set the crock pot to high and allow the chocolate to melt for approximately 30 minutes without covering. Stir the chocolate occasionally with a long-handled spoon to ensure even melting.
  3. Maintain chocolate temperature: Once fully melted, reduce the crock pot temperature to low or warm to keep the chocolate melted and ready for dipping.
  4. Dip pretzels: Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, shaking off excess chocolate. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Add toppings: Immediately sprinkle your chosen toppings such as sprinkles, mini M&M’s, or chopped nuts over the dipped pretzels before the chocolate sets.
  6. Set and store: Allow the chocolate to fully harden at room temperature. Once set, store the pretzels in an airtight container to keep them fresh.

Notes

  • Use a variety of chocolates such as milk, semisweet, dark, or white according to your preference or for visual variety.
  • Ensure the water in the crock pot does not enter the jars to prevent chocolate from seizing.
  • You can use candy melts as an alternative to chocolate for easier melting and bright colors.
  • Let the pretzels harden fully at room temperature for the best texture; refrigerating may cause condensation.
  • Store the finished pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
