Description
A delicious and comforting Cheesy Herb Pull Apart Bread featuring gooey cheddar cheese wrapped in soft pizza dough, topped with a fragrant blend of freeze-dried herbs and melted butter. Perfect as a shareable appetizer or a savory snack.
Ingredients
Dough and Cheese
- 28 oz pre-made pizza dough, divided into 16 portions
- 16 cubes of cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
Herb Butter Topping
- 6 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp Litehouse® Freeze Dried Oregano
- 1 tsp Litehouse® Freeze Dried Basil
- ½ tsp Litehouse® Freeze Dried Parsley
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C). Grease a large cast iron skillet or a 9×9” baking dish with butter or non-stick oil spray to ensure the bread won’t stick.
- Portion Dough: Using a sharp knife or a bench scraper, divide the pre-made pizza dough into 16 to 18 equal portions. Each portion should be enough to wrap around one cheese cube.
- Wrap Cheese: Take each dough portion and wrap it tightly around one cube of cheddar cheese. Be sure to pinch and roll the seam closed fully so the cheese doesn’t leak out during baking.
- Arrange Dough Balls: Place the cheese-wrapped dough balls closely together in the prepared skillet or baking dish. They should be just touching as they will expand while baking. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and parmesan cheese evenly in the gaps between the dough balls for extra cheesiness.
- Prepare Herb Butter: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, freeze-dried oregano, basil, parsley, and salt until well combined.
- Brush and Bake: Brush the herb butter mixture generously over the top of the arranged dough balls. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Brush additional herb butter over the top for extra flavor. Serve warm, optionally with Litehouse® Homestyle Ranch as a dipping sauce for a creamy complement.
Notes
- Make sure to seal the dough completely around the cheese to prevent leakage.
- You can substitute the cheddar cheese cubes with mozzarella or other melting cheeses if preferred.
- This bread is best served warm to enjoy the gooey cheese pull-apart effect.
- Freeze dried herbs can be replaced with equal amounts of fresh herbs, though freeze dried are more concentrated.
- Use a cast iron skillet or a baking dish to ensure even cooking and easy serving.
- For a spicier twist, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the herb butter.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or microwave but are best enjoyed fresh.
