Description

A delicious and fun twist on classic cheeseburgers, this Cheeseburger Pizza combines seasoned ground beef, tangy pickles, and a blend of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise sauce on a crispy pizza crust topped with melted mozzarella cheese. Perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a crowd-pleasing party appetizer, this recipe is easy to make with straightforward steps and cooks quickly in the oven.

Ingredients

For the Pizza Dough

  • 1 recipe pizza dough

For the Toppings

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 5-6 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (approximately 622g)
  • 2/3 cup sliced dill pickles (approximately 95g)
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion (approximately 47g)

For the Sauce

  • 2/3 cup ketchup (approximately 157g)
  • 1/3 cup yellow mustard (approximately 77g)
  • 1.5 tablespoons mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Make the pizza dough. Prepare your favorite pizza dough recipe or use store-bought dough and have it ready to use.
  2. Pre-bake the dough. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Roll out or stretch the pizza dough to your preferred size and place it on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake in the oven for 6 minutes to set the crust before adding toppings.
  3. Cook the ground beef. While the dough pre-bakes, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the lean ground beef, breaking it up into small pieces. Cook until browned and fully cooked through. Drain and remove the excess grease to avoid a soggy pizza.
  4. Prepare the pizza sauce. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, yellow mustard, and mayonnaise. Mix well until the sauce is smooth and evenly blended to mimic a cheeseburger sauce flavor.
  5. Assemble the pizza. Spread the prepared sauce evenly over the pre-baked pizza crust. Sprinkle a small layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef and chopped onions over the cheese. Add the dill pickle slices to your liking across the surface. Finally, top with the remaining mozzarella cheese to cover the toppings.
  6. Bake the pizza. Place the assembled pizza back into the oven and bake for 8 to 12 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly and the crust is golden and cooked through.

Notes

  • Pre-baking the dough prevents the crust from getting soggy from the sauce and toppings.
  • Drain the ground beef well to avoid excess grease on the pizza.
  • Adjust the amount of pickles depending on your preferred tanginess.
  • You can substitute mozzarella with a blend of mozzarella and cheddar for extra cheeseburger flavor.
  • Let the pizza cool for a couple of minutes before slicing to allow the cheese to set.
