Description

Brazilian Lemonade is a refreshing and creamy citrus drink made with fresh limes, sweetened condensed milk, and ice. Despite its name, it uses limes instead of lemons, offering a uniquely tart and sweet flavor, perfect for hot days or as a delightful treat any time of year.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 limes
  • 4 cups cold filtered water
  • Ice (quantity as desired)
  • 1 can (14 ounces / 300 ml) sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the limes: Zest 2 of the limes and set the zest aside. Peel all 4 limes carefully to remove the outer peel and the white pith, which can add bitterness.
  2. Blend the limes and water: Place the peeled limes into a blender with 4 cups of cold filtered water. Blend on medium-high for 20 to 30 seconds to combine the flavors and break down the fruit.
  3. Strain the mixture: Pour the blended liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl to remove the pulp. Discard or save the pulp for other uses.
  4. Blend with remaining ingredients: Return the strained liquid to the blender. Add ice to your preferred level, the reserved lime zest, and the sweetened condensed milk. Blend again until the mixture is frothy and well combined.
  5. Serve and enjoy: Pour the Brazilian Lemonade into glasses with extra ice if desired. Optionally, add a splash of your favorite alcohol for an adult twist.

Notes

  • Removing the pith from the limes is crucial to avoid bitterness in the drink.
  • The zest adds extra lime flavor and a bit of texture.
  • You can adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk for sweetness preference.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or halved depending on serving needs.
  • Add a splash of vodka, rum, or tequila for an adult version.
  • Use fresh, firm limes for the best flavor.
