Description
This authentic guacamole recipe features ripe Hass avocados, fresh lime juice, jalapeños, and cilantro, creating a rich, chunky dip that’s simple, fresh, and incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
2 large Hass avocados
1 roma tomato, diced
3 Tbsp red or white onion, chopped
2 Tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
1 jalapeño, chopped (remove seeds for milder flavor)
Juice of 1 lime
¼ tsp salt (or to taste)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl or molcajete, mash together the chopped onion, cilantro, jalapeño, salt, and lime juice to release flavors.
- Add roughly chopped avocados and mash with a fork until you reach your desired consistency—authentic guacamole should be a bit chunky.
- Gently fold in the diced tomato.
- Taste and adjust salt and lime as needed.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats.
Notes
- For a creamier version, add a spoonful of sour cream or Greek yogurt.
- Mix in diced mango or pineapple for a tropical twist.
- To increase the spice, use serrano peppers instead of jalapeños.
- For a zesty flavor, add a pinch of cumin or garlic powder.
- Keep larger avocado pieces for a chunkier version.
